As a Core Facility within the DKFZ, we handle the entire genome sequencing workflow on state-of-the-art systems and are one of the largest facilities of this kind in Europe.
Aufgaben:
Collaborate with laboratory staff and bioinformatics scientists to gather, analyze, and document software requirements
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for both existing and new software features
Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) using Java and SQL, from the initial planning phase through to implementation
Design and execute test cases to ensure the interoperability of the LIMS software with laboratory devices, sequencing machines, HPC clusters, and petabyte-scale data storage
Qualifikationen:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biology or equivalent professional experience
Fundamental knowledge of Java and a desire to further develop programming skills
Basic understanding of SQL databases and/or HTML/CSS
Experience in software testing and/or documentation writing
Service-oriented and collaborative team player
Strong communication skills in both German (B2) and English, with a willingness for interdisciplinary exchange
Desirable: Knowledge about laboratory workflows and user-interface-design as well as interest in laboratory automation, bioinformatics or genome sequencing
